Government Procurement
Federal, state and local government agencies and prime contractors are charged with ensuring that a significant portion of the work they perform is carried out by small businesses. Your business can be one of the few that compete for and win contracts in this enormous marketplace. The Small Business Development Center has experts available to help you with four key steps:
- Certification and Registration – using Central Contractor Registration to let them know you are there and securing veteran, woman-owned, minority-owned or small business certifications (VBE, DVBE, WOSB,8(a), etc.).
- Finding bid opportunities – connecting with buyers, procurement portals and web sites that will help you received opportunities in the mail or through e-mail. These include tools such as BidSync, FedBizOpps and more.
- Responding to Requests for Proposals(RFP) – we can help develop a proposal that meets the needs to the agency and provides you with a profitable project that is within your capabilities.
- Financing and Bonding – contracts mean growth and growth requires greater access to capital and bonding that insures the job.

Karla Gonzalez understands why small business sits on the sidelines while opportunities for contracts come and go. Since joining the team in April, she works hard to get companies registered and certified to compete for contracts, has developed a training program that educate these companies and has provided outreach to organizations that share our interest.
