Inland Empire SBDC Assistant Director, Paul Nolta will participate as a panelist at the upcoming How to Find the Money event being hosted by the City of Corona and Greater Corona Valley Chamber of Commerce on May 10, 2012. This event will be held from 10:00 am to Noon at the Corona City Hall Council Chambers. Dispel the notion that lenders are not lending and discover the many options available to small business, whether you are financing the purchase of new equipment, buying a building, or starting your business. The Desert Communities Employer Advisory Council, in partnership with the Employment Development Department, presents Managing Leaves of Absence on Wednesday, April 25th. SBDC Director Vincent McCoy to speak at the upcoming Financing Your Business seminar on Friday, April 27th. The seminar, held in the Chamber Boardroom from 7:30 am to 9:00 am, will explore a variety of funding alternatives including self-funding, grants, conventional loans and special loan programs specific designed for small businesses. There will be a $35 charge to attend for Chamber Members or $75 for non-members. The seminar includes a light breakfast and parking. Resources Exist But Not Everyone Knows This

Many people dream of owning a business someday, but it can be a difficult road that some have no idea how to navigate.

Big parts of that map were explained Thursday at a seminar in San Bernardino hosted by the Inland Southern California office of the Minority Business Development Agency. Representatives of several organizations offered a basic list of resources to people who have either started their own businesses or would like to.

Do Small Businesses Really Need the SBA’s Help?

I’ve sometimes heard from business owners that “nobody” uses the SBA’s 900 field offices known as small business development centers or SBDCs. Turns out that’s just not true.

With funding for SDBCs on the chopping block at both the state and federal level, the SBA has documented the SBDCs’ impact in a new report. It appears entrepreneurs definitely visit the SBDCs — more than 500,000 of them in 2010, the study found — and the business owners report the resources there helped their businesses thrive.

One of the biggest advantages users of SBDCs gained was knowledge of how to get a business loan. There’s also good crossover with business education, as many of the centers are hosted on college campuses.
